5 Reasons Why Being Broke Can Be a Blessing

Truth be told, no one enjoys being broke, or going broke for that matter, due to a lost job or failed business. You’re sadly stopped from enjoying the finer things in life in the process, and forced to do things at a seemingly slower pace than everyone else. Your movement also changes, as mobility becomes a luxury among many other predicaments.
However, like everything under the sun, the dark cloud that is “brokenness” also has its share of silver linings if we look hard enough. Here are a few blessings to consider:
1.      You learn more creative ways to have fun: Why should your life end because you can’t afford to go to the cinema with friends, or get expensive toys? Discover new ways to entertain yourself. Explore new hobbies, learn new skills and do other fun things that can be cheaply done indoors.
2.      You get more “me time”: Me time is vital. That’s when all the great ideas, philosophies and inventions of our generation were made; that window of time their creators spent in solitude. So if you are stuck at home because you are out of work, for instance, see this as the perfect opportunity to think of a business or project idea with enough impact for a lifetime. An idea that won’t just get you employed, but hundreds more in your current situation. You can also use this time to learn important skills that will set you apart from the rest.
3.      You learn to appreciate the important things in life: Cars, expensive handbags and high-tech LCD screens, these things come and go. However, spending quality time with family among other things should be more of a priority in life, and being broke slows life down enough to help you see this truth.
4.      You pray more: Interestingly, being broke has a way of getting people to spend more time on their knees in prayer. Like the Israelites in the wilderness, you learn to be more dependent on God for daily provision and support, strengthening faith and the relationship in the process.
5.      You find out who your true friends are: The saying, ‘A friend in need is a friend indeed’, couldn’t be farther from the truth, and being broke helps you learn this first-hand. Some people will abandon you when things get rough. They were never truly your friends in the first place, and were probably in the relationship for what they could get. Be glad when they do leave, and thankful for the people who choose to stick with you.

We hope these motivated you!
