A quote says "Your relevance stops where your impact stops." Some elders are no longer relevant as they specialize in creating chaotic scenes or making suggestions/decisions that are out of date and do not make the situation better.
Grey hair is not the sign of being wise as some have stress written all over them which is a distress for that matter. When there is a deep wealth of knowledge obtained from books and experiences, it is easier to help the next generation get better. No wonder, in life it is important to learn, relearn, and unlearn but not all are doing that, no wonder their relevance stops where their impact stops.
Not all elders were able to learn the rudiments of leadership as some were bad examples while growing up during their youthful days and still are, no wonder those who knew them could not say anything good or encouraging about them.
Listening to elders is very good but elders who cannot head a team or lead a group well and effectively are only heading everyone toward frustration and destruction. Frustrated that nobody wanted to listen to me, nobody wanted to follow me, they were ignoring and avoiding me, he was not coming to run errands for me, he was closer to others who were my junior and younger than me, etc had made those who are to be elders give and make decisions without first thinking it through. Whether good or bad elders, they are worthy of emulation and what needs to be studied as they are not meant to be followed blindly without picking lessons from their past mistakes.
