The Confident Man

To become successful at pretty much anything in life,
from approaching women to giving a killer
presentation, starting a business, being a leader and
lots more, confidence is key. People only want to
follow leaders who look and sound like they know
their onions. An investor would only invest in a
business run by competent confident fellows. The
only reason a woman would go to bed with you
would be that you’re confident, except perhaps you
are funny, then she would anyway.
Confidence is not necessarily something we come
into this world with – no one is born with it. However,
everyone can obtain it. I had very little of it when I
was growing, but through various stressful
experiences and interactions, I have been able to
gain greater faith in myself. Here I have put together
a list of things you could do to boost your confidence.
Be Smartly Dressed
Guys who are insecure often worry about “over-
dressing,” while confident guys never fear such a
thing. These men have realized that appearing
smartly dressed is a very efficient way of projecting
power. This makes them not concerned if people
think they’re trying too hard or not. You should
always strive to be one of the best dressed men in
the room. Wear fitted clothes that reflect maturity
and style but be sure to learn the difference between
dressing smart and dressing flashy.
Speak Eloquently
The ability to speak assertively and clearly is a sign of
confidence. Eloquence involves being able to fluently
communicate your ideas with words. Rambling is a
big turn off as it makes you seem unsure of yourself.
You should also speak loudly enough so you don’t
have to repeat yourself. Expand your vocabulary by
reading wide, so you can have an array of words at
your disposal.
Listen Twice as much
Listening more than you speak projects confidence. It
shows you’re confident with your word choices and
don’t have to say too much to get your point across.
Also allowing the other person speak without
jumping in shows coherence. Be careful to not be too
quiet, remember you are trying to come across as
confident not unsure of what to say.
Body language
Body language speaks volumes about your
confidence level. When you meet someone new,
make eye contact with the person. Walk confidently
and maintain a balanced upright posture. Give firm
handshakes and hugs. Meet each person with a
smile. The way you carry yourself counts.
Toot your Horn
There’s a fine line between calling positive attention
to yourself and seeming arrogant. An easy rule to
adopt is, when asked, do tell. If you feel the need to
speak about your accomplishments, steer the
conversation by asking a leading question that
introduces the topic. This way when you start telling
tales of your greatness you’d simply be answering a
question. Remember to stay modest, confident guys
do not brag.
Conquer your fear of failure
Everyone is afraid of something, don’t always show it.
It’s important to realize that in everything we do,
there’s always a chance that we’ll fail. Facing that
chance, and embracing it, is not only courageous but
it also gives us a fuller, more rewarding life. A
confident person realizes that, and takes most of his
chances. Think of the opportunities you’ll miss if you
let failure stop you.
