The next time you see cockroaches, mosquitoes or flies,
here's what you should do!
You might have used a pesticide spray to
deal with mosquitoes, flies and cockroaches. Given the harmful chemicals they
contain, you might be worried about breathing it and some people even prefer to
tie a scarf or kerchief around their noses while spraying their homes. If you are thinking of
dialling a pest control service, beware of the lung problems and the obnoxious
smell that you have to live with for few days. To make things easier, try to
use natural, home made repellents to get rid of common pests.
Garlic for mosquitoes
The strong and pungent odour of this easily
available kitchen ingredient does the trick. All you need to do is crush few
pods of garlic, boil them in water and spray this solution in your house. You
can even spray it on yourself, but beware of its strong smell.
White vinegar for ants
Whether it’s summer or winter, ants are
found everywhere and in all seasons. So the next time you see these tiny
creatures roaming around, just spray some white vinegar in these areas.
However, if you plan to use it on the carpet or any fabric, test the solution
beforehand.
Boric powder for cockroaches
Wondering how to get rid of those
cockroaches from your kitchen? Mix a teaspoon of wheat flour (atta) and boric
powder, add a little water and make a dough. Now, make small balls of it and
place them in every corner of the room to keep cockroaches at bay.
Citrus peels for spiders
During rains, the sight of spiders is quite common.
But there’s an effective home remedy to keep them at bay. All you have to do is
rub citrus peels on areas that are highly vulnerable to spiders such as
bookshelves, corners of the room and window sills.
Camphor for flies
Not many people know that camphor acts as a
potent deterrent for flies. Place few camphor pieces in a bowl and put it in
every nook of the house. In case of too many flies, light the camphor and
spread the fumes throughout your home to get rid of them. Read about 11 simple and effective
ways to keep flies away from your home.
